Bloodletting

Due to the nature of this information, I really can't tell you what TO do, but I can give basic safety information and tell you what NOT to do. So that is what follows. Also the Disclaimer for Idiots:
I do not condone the harming of people or animals for the purpose of drinking blood, however I acknowledge the necessity to a subpopulation of people here-in refered to as "sanguinarians". I take no responsibility for the misuse of the following information resulting in pain or injury. Just because something is not listed, does not mean it is a safe practice. This information is intended to be used only by consenting adults. Adults defined by the age of majority in the country or state of residence.

Basic Safety Information

Things to keep in a First Aid Kit:
  • Bandages
  • Tourniquets
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Peroxide
  • Phone numbers to local hospitals
  • Neosporin or other antibiotic ointment
  • Band-aids
  • Gauze
  • Non-porous Gloves
    Always keep this kit in a location where you know where it is and can reach it quickly in case of emergency. Never be too afraid to call the hospital if needed. If another person's life depends on it, that is not the time to be considering your own life. If it is that big a deal, you should have thought about it before you even started.
    Take a basic first aid/CPR course! These are often given several times a year through the Red Cross. You never know when you will need the information. Taking routine refresher courses doesn't hurt either.

    What NOT to Do

  • NEVER cut where you can see a blood vessel below the skin
  • NEVER cut on the neck, inner thigh, wrist, bend of the elbow, or back of the knee.
  • NEVER attempt to draw blood with a syringe without proper training.
  • NEVER draw blood from a sick donor.
  • NEVER take blood from the unwilling or underage.
  • NEVER leave unless you are sure your donor is ok and has stopped bleeding.
  • NEVER take more then your donor can safely give.
  • NEVER pressure your donor into giving blood.
  • NEVER take blood from someone under the influence of medication or alcohol, legal or otherwise.
  • NEVER drink blood from someone without knowing if they have any blood borne diseases.
